As with many businesses during COVID in 2020, our Sanctuary’s income plummeted to almost nothing. As a result, all of our available funds had to be funnelled into the welfare and upkeep of our resident birds. Our big plans to upgrade the bird transport vehicle, the 20 year old and increasingly dilapidated Toyota Hiace, had to be shelved.
2021 has continued to be another trying year financially and, as our acting Premier James Merlino stated frequently about COVID to justify our fourth lockdown, we have almost been ‘run to ground’. So, we have started a ‘My Cause’ campaign to raise $20,000 for a newer second hand van.
