Dandelion was one of four Kestrels born at the Sanctuary in November 2020. She is so called due to the persistent chick fluff that remained on the top of her head long after her feathers were fully formed. Her parents are Paris and Needles, who came to us from the Northern Territory in 2019.
Dandelion was raised by both us and Bramble, another Northern Territory Kestrel. Despite our attempts with ‘dual imprinting’, Dandelion insists on calling to us incessantly for food. Remarkably, she has developed into an amazing ‘lure chaser’ based on many hours of Martin’s patience. Look out for impressive turns in the sky at our next community display.
