Our Work
Educational Displays
Leigh Valley Hawk and Owl Sanctuary currently offers public raptor displays only at one location with an elite team of trained birds of prey. Our presentations focus on educating school age children at Kryal Castle and are conducted by highly trained staff with an established track record in environmental science, historical interpretation and teaching.
Please note: We no longer offer bird displays for the general public or school incursions.
Rehabilitation Training
We periodically conduct training in bird of prey rehabilitation to wildlife carers in workshops conducted at the Garibaldi Community Hall. Sometimes these are also offered via wildlife rehabilitation organisations such as Wildlife Victoria. For more information, visit our Wildlife Shelter Training page here
Community presenter
Looking for a guest speaker for your club or society? Martin is available for guest speaker spots in the Ballarat region (or elsewhere by negotiation). His entertaining presentations focus on his past work in the fields of raptor research, education and rehabilitation.
Our birds
The birds that are engaged in our display work are from captive stock from zoos or other wildlife parks around Australia and have not been taken from the wild.
