Our work: The Displays and the Wildlife Shelter
The Leigh Valley Hawk and Owl Sanctuary offers mobile raptor displays with an elite team of trained birds of prey. Presentations are conducted by highly trained staff with an established track record in environmental science and teaching. Our programs are offered within the Central Highlands and south-western regions of Victoria. We also rehabilitate injured birds of prey under our Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning shelter permit.
The two aspects of our work are very separate given that one has a business and educational focus – the displays, and the other has a rehabilitation focus – the wildlife shelter. The birds that are engaged in our display work are from captive stock from zoos or other wildlife parks around Australia and have not been taken from the wild. The birds of prey that come into our care because of injuries obtained while in the wild are returned to their territories, wherever possible, and are never used for our displays.
